Year 11 boys learn about the plight of Syrian refugees

On Thursday 11th April, Peter Shields, who is a member of the Board of Governors, came in to speak to Mr Menown’s Year 11 Geography class about migration. Outside of work commitments, Peter travels to Athens a number of times through the year to help refugees - many of whom have arrived in Greece as a result of the conflict in Syria.

Learning about migration is a core part of the GCSE Geography specification and so it was a perfect opportunity for the boys to hear about this case study from someone who has experienced the plight of refugees at first-hand. Mr Menown and the boys would like to thank Peter for the time he gave up to tell us about his experiences. The presentation he gave was very insightful for the boys and also highlights the philanthropy undertaken by the alumni of Inst.
