The Golf society primarily follows the Golf Ireland school competitions calendar, which includes the Irish Senior and Junior Schools’ Championships, the Ulster Schools’ Scratch Championship and Ulster U16 Boys Junior Championship. These competitions allow our competitive golfers to represent the School and compete as individuals against the best golfers, initially, in Ulster and then if successful at All-Ireland level. The RBAI teams have been very successful with multiple Ulster titles in recent years at both Senior and Junior level. In addition, the School has won several All-Ireland titles over the years.
In addition, we take part in the McDowell Cup which is an annual match against Coleraine Grammar School. This competition is primarily for golfers in Years 8 and 9 who have an official Golf Ireland handicap and wish to represent the School in a low stakes and fun match.
Our golfers have been very successful in terms of both golf and their academic study. Many have combined both to allow them to move into tertiary education in the USA, The University of St. Andrews and Maynooth University in recent years.
