Debating Society

The Debating Society is split into a Junior Society (for pupils in Years 8-10) and a Senior Society (for pupils in Years 11-14).

The Debating Society is split into a Junior Society (for pupils in Years 8-10) and a Senior Society (for pupils in Years 11-14). Both the Junior and Senior Society meet on a weekly basis. During these meetings, we debate current affairs in roundtable events; hold formal competitive debates; and engage in workshops designed to improve the communication and thinking skills of our members. We also invite various figures from public life, including current political leaders, to speak to our students and answer questions. Furthermore, we invite various schools to compete in debates which are as entertaining as they are educational. Finally, the Society holds public speaking competitions (the Gawin Orr Prize) and a school election on an annual basis.
