Each year teams are entered into the Minor, Junior, Intermediate and Senior Schools Ulster cup competitions, playing home matches at Belfast Boat Club.
Tennis has been played at RBAI since the game first developed and is a popular sport played by pupils in the summer term. Each year teams are entered into the minor, junior, intermediate and senior schools Ulster cup competitions.
Each team consists of four players but a squad of six is usually selected facilitating rotation of players and flexibility in exam season. Matches consist of both singles and doubles format, with each player’s performance contributing to the overall team score.
The club are fortunate to use Belfast Boat Club as the base for home fixtures. There have been a number of successful cup teams over the years with a senior cup win in 2019 and a junior cup win in 2023. Boys are encouraged to compete in Matchplay and tournament competitions across the country to achieve Ulster Tennis and Tennis Ireland ranking points. These then contribute to selection for U14 and U18 Interprovincial teams with a consistent representation from RBAI.
