All this training is provided and heavily subsidised through the MOD. In a number of these areas our cadets have gone on to compete in regional and national competitions.
The contingent currently consists of an Army section and an RAF section with over 120 boys regularly participating in CCF training. It is open to boys from Year 9 and upwards.
In a number of these areas our cadets have gone on to compete in regional and national competitions. The RAF section also provides the opportunity for the cadets to take part in Air Experience visits and gives the cadets to take flights in RAF aircraft. For some there is even the opportunity to progress on to gliding training.
Members of the CCF who have completed their training may also choose to enrol and take a BTEC First Diploma in Public Services. This award is equivalent to four GCSE’s and is recognised by employers and universities as a worthwhile vocational qualification. Learners can enrol with us as early as 13 on a BTEC Level 1, progressing to a BTEC Level 2 in Teamwork and Personal Development in the Community. The qualifications provide valuable recognition of ‘soft skills’ such as teamwork, resilience, and citizenship – potential game-changers whether you’re applying to university, considering an apprenticeship, or just looking to add another string to your bow.
