Inchmarlo P7 rugby tournament at Friends School Lisburn

On Thursday 9th of May the P7 rugby team took part in the Friends School P7 rugby blitz. The team had played the previous week at the Campbell College blitz and had recorded some fine wins over Campbell College and Downey House,
Inchmarlo P7 rugby tournament at Friends School Lisburn

The team started their day against Campbell College and played some great rugby, passing the ball well and scoring some fine tries.

Next up was Downshire PS who provided stern opposition. The team gave away to many penalties allowing Downshire into the match and getting the first try.

However, the team quickly realised that they needed to start to play as a team and managed to lift their work rate. This was led by Conor Ballantine who made 3 crucial turnovers which led to Inchmarlo scoring 2 tries and the result was sealed.

Wallace Prep were up next and the team were back to top form winning 3 tries to nil.

The final match was the toughest test against a much fancied Meadowbridge PS team who had some rather large and fast boys on their team. However, the defence from the boys was strong, and the boys were able to make solid tackles and put these big runners on the ground allowing the team to compete at the ruck and steal ball almost at will.

Meadowbridge did score first but Inchmarlo quickly replied through strong running from Adam Boyd who crashed over for a try. With time nearly up and a draw looking like the only outcome, we managed to steal the ball from a ruck, and this was moved quickly across 4 sets of hand to find Conor Davison in space. Conor had a lot of work to do but managed to beat 4 defenders on his way to score a fine individual try and win the match for Inchmarlo.
