Home Learning Support

MY-SCHOOL - LoginAs the majority of pupils are now at home, it is our aim to seek to ensure as much continuity of access to C2k services via as possible. This includes access to email, files and online learning services such as Collaborate Ultra, C2k Newsdesk/Seomra Nuachta, Fronter, Office 365 and G Suite. For details of services available from home, please refer to Information Sheet EN091 – Extending teaching and learning beyond the classroom on C2k Exchange.

image006.jpg@01D622E5In order to support the delivery of teaching and learning for pupils at home, a number of videos have been recorded and published in C2k Media Library. At present there are videos on C2k Newsdesk, Collaborate Ultra, Google G Suite and Microsoft O365 with further videos planned. Just search for “Learning from home” in the Media Library via My School.

image009.jpg@01D622E5Online Learning resources to support the use of Google G Suite ([]G Suite) and Microsoft Office (Teams) are available and are updated taking into account new developments.

image013.jpg@01D622E5Where there is increasing use of online learning tools, we would remind schools of the need to ensure sharing of files and information is carried out securely. Schools should be particularly careful when sharing invitations to join classes and courses. When schools use the access codes for Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams to allow pupils to join, these codes must not be published on a public facing website or via social media. It is recommended that codes are shared via email or other private mechanism and once the required students have joined, the code should be disabled. Additional advice and guidance on the use and protection of data can be found in Information Sheet EN170 - Data Protection Guidance when using EA C2k Services on C2k Exchange.

image004.png@01D62229In addition, some changes are being made to MySchool to make access to services from home easier via the launch panel. This means that the launch panel will only show icons for services accessible from outside school. The MyApps icon has been removed from the launch panel but is still accessible for users in school via “View All > Files and Apps” or via the system tray icon in the bottom right of the screen.

I hope your son is able to access Google Classroom and his emails. Teachers will be using these for on-line teaching and this is already well underway.
