Year 13 and 14 students recently took part in the CyberFirst Post-16 Capture the Flag Competition, joining over 180 teams from across 7 regions and the home nations.
A Cyber Capture the Flag (CTF) competition is a cybersecurity challenge where participants use their skills to solve complex, real-world problems. In this competition, students were presented with a series of tasks covering areas such as web exploitation, networking, digital forensics, and reverse engineering. As they worked through each challenge, the tasks increased in difficulty, pushing participants to think critically and work collaboratively to “capture flags” (hidden tokens) that signify successfully completed challenges.
We are thrilled to announce that RBAI emerged as the highest-scoring team in Northern Ireland! This achievement reflects the team’s hard work, dedication, and exceptional teamwork. The winning team members—Jay Jayaprakash, Terry Gibney, David Richie, and Ross Farmer—each received an Amazon voucher and branded apparel as prizes.
Congratulations to the team on their fantastic success!
