Minecraft eSports Competition

Minecraft eSports Competition

W5 ‘launched’ their 2nd Annual Minecraft eSports Competition this year to coincide with the Odysseus Moon Mission. The all-Ireland competition saw 103 teams compete to design a futuristic living environment in space, dubbed "Habitat for Hu-Moon-ity." The challenge required students to design a complete habitable biome with food and energy sources, along with a lunar vehicle and a shuttle craft.

The top 8 teams from around Ireland were then invited to Dream Space at W5 LIFE on Friday, February 26th 2024, where they had to recreate their design inside 90mins under the watchful gaze of the judges in a tense build-a-ton to be crowned Minecraft: Education eSports Champions 2024. Our Year Team - Oliver Redmond, Oran Ramsden, Seth Bourke, and Matthew Taylor made it to the finals for the second year in a row. The boys delivered a fantastic build that secured third place and were presented with a 3D printed runners-up trophy and Microsoft goodies! Well done!
