CyberFirst NI and SANS Cyber Challenge – CTF

As part of NI Cyber Week, CyberFirst and the SANS Institute held an online Cyber Capture The Flag (CTF) Tournament on March 8, 2024. Fifteen of our Year 13 and 14 Computer Science students had five hours to showcase their cybersecurity skills. The students experienced real-world scenarios in a fun and safe virtual environment, learning about the key disciplines within Cyber Security: Web Exploitation, Forensics, Network Analysis, Binary Exploitation and Reverse Engineering, and Cryptography and Data Analysis.

We were thrilled to see Terry Gibney, 13S, come in first place with an impressive 1,959 points. Several other students also placed in the top 10: Jay Jayaprakash, 13D, ranked 5th with 918 points; Matthew Neilly, 14D, ranked 6th with 854 points; and Callum Grant, 13J, earned 734 points.

Well done!
