Cyber Investigators

Cyber Investigators

As part of NI Cyber Week 2024 (4th – 10th March), RBAI hosted the CyberFirst Investigators course. The event brought together our students with those from other schools in the province, including Mercy College Belfast, St Ronan's Lurgan, St Patrick's Dungannon, and Ballycastle High.

This initiative is inspired and led by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), a part of GCHQ, and is open to students aged 12 to 14 years. CyberFirst Investigators is designed to enhance student understanding of the various specialisms within cybersecurity and equip them with valuable practical skills. It's a fun, scenario-based initiative aimed at supporting students interested in pursuing a career in cybersecurity.

During the event, students assumed the roles of cybersecurity experts working for a fictitious app company, Sirius Cyberworks. Unfortunately, disaster struck when there was a serious breach of the company network – the leak of a new flagship app. The students' task was to investigate four different parts of the company, uncovering how the leak occurred while acquiring new cyber skills along the way.
