On Wednesday 15th October, RBAI entered pupils in the Belfast Regional Table Tennis Individual Tournament. The tournament consisted of over 75 pupils from across Belfast with 7 Post Primary Schools taking part. All together RBAI had 4 pupils playing across 2 age categories, Under 14 and Under 19.
James Vallelly competed in the Under 14 section. James topped his group in the opening group stage advancing to quarter finals where he was ultimately defeated in his quarter final tie.
In the Under 19 section both Christopher Allsop, Aaditya Singh and Matt Courtney represented the school. Being ranked Number 1 and Number 2 seed in the tournament both Christopher and Aaditya duly advanced to the knockout stage after topping their respective groups. Both Chris and Aaditya won their quarter and semi-finals. This set up an all RBAI final with Christopher winning 3-1 to win the singles competition. Matt did not qualify out the opening group stage but did qualify for the consolation knockout stage where he advanced to the final where he finished runner up.
Well done to all those who took part in the Championship.
