RBAI Golf win Ulster title for third year in a row
Lock-down saw a curtailment in school activities. However; Golf made a return this week with the GUI keen to finish the season. A school team was hastily assembled with Darcy Hogg, Robert Craigan, Michael Glasgow, George Craigan and Evan Hogg making the trip to the Hilton Templepatrick to challenge for the Ulster Matchplay title. They faced Campbell College in the morning semi-final. The match was incredibly tight with a number of matches hanging in the balance. Thankfully Evan Hogg was able to win his match on the 18th hole to send RBAI into the final against Bangor Grammar.
The final was an equally tense occasion with four of the five matches heading down the 18th hole. It was left to Robert Craigan to hole a nerve jangling four foot putt to win the title for the third year in a row, which he duly dispatched. This is a great achievement for a side currently rebuilding, but with George and Evan only entering Year 10 this September the future of the Golf team is in very good hands.
