The celebrations culminated in the prizes being distributed by Instonian, The Right Honourable Sir Patrick Coghlin. Sir Patrick’s presence at Prize Distribution was very much appreciated, as were his pertinent words which gave the audience a unique insight into the experiences of an Inst boy who progressed to the role of judge of the High Court of Justice.
In addition to the addresses delivered by the Visitor of the Day, the Principal and the Chairman of the Board of Governors, Mr Colin Gowdy, the highlight of the ceremony was the Head of School’s speech.
Head boy Keelan Sloan not only spoke eloquently, he became the first boy to punctuate his speech with song, treating the assembled guests to a moving rendition of Yeats’ lyric poem set to music, ‘Down By the Salley Gardens’.
Congratulations to all the boys whose achievements were honoured on the day.
