Minecraft eSports Competition

Throughout December and January our students were asked to enter a W5 competition that challenged them to create and build a sustainable world within Minecraft. Students from Years 8-10 had to build their vision of sustainable house, food source and transportation for a family of 4. The top 8 teams from around Ireland were then invited to compete in a live eSports competition within Dream Space at W5 LIFE on Friday February 24th 2023 - competing against other teams to be crowned Minecraft: Education Edition master!

Our Year 9 Team; Oliver Redmond, Oran Ramsden, Seth Bourke, Matthew Taylor, made it through to the final! They boys were tasked with completing their build in a strict time limit of 1hr 30 minutes under the scrutiny of a panel of judges. The boys created a fantastic build, taking first place. Not only were they presented with a 3D printed trophy and goodies by the Director of Learning at Microsoft but also won a W5 coding day for their entire year group! Well done!
