As part of the Year 10 Careers Day, the Business Studies department hosted “Project Business”, facilitated by Young Enterprise in conjunction with AIB. The purpose of this event was to give boys an insight into Business Studies as a GCSE option. Through various group activities, boys were introduced to some of the key concepts of running a business – choosing a company name, logo, slogan, the key positions within a business and then running a production line for a jewelry business.
This involved having to deal with suppliers, the bank and customers – roles that were played by some of our Sixth Form students. There were prizes for the business that made the most money! During the event, pupils also learned about the career paths of our 3 business volunteers from AIB and Concentrix and there were some thought provoking questions asked. Many thanks to Ryan from Young Enterprise who co-ordinated all the activities and to Julie, Marc and Philip who provided the boys with their valuable business and career insights.
Thanks also to our Sixth Formers who were tough negotiators!
