Combined Cadet Force

The Combined Cadet Force in Inst exists to develop leadership, self-confidence and team working skills within a military environment. The contingent currently consists of an Army section and an RAF section with over 100 boys regularly participating in CCF training. It is open to boys from year 9 up. As well as in school training on Friday afternoons the boys regularly attend weekend camps in Ballykinlar, Magilligan and across England.

The cadets take part in ranges, field craft and survival skills, first aid, Drill and ceremonial occasions as well as adventurous training and sporting opportunities. All of this training is provided and heavily subsidised through the MOD. In a number of these areas our cadets have gone on to compete in regional and national competitions. The RAF section also provides the opportunity for the cadets to take part in Air Experience visits and gives the cadets to take flights in RAF aircraft. For some there is even the opportunity to progress on to gliding training.
