Teaching and Learning:
KS3
All pupils study LLW in Year 8. Pupils can select to study LLW in Years 9 and 10. Pupils study the three strands of the Learning for Life and Work course, Citizenship, Employability and Personal Development. This includes the topics such as self-awareness, personal health, diversity & inclusion, human rights, work in the local and global community and career management.
KS4
Pupils continue to develop their knowledge and understanding of the three strands of Learning for Life and Work, Citizenship, Employability and Personal Development. This is delivered by tutors during the timetabled tutor period.
GCSE LLW
The CCEA GCSE in Learning for Life and Work engages students in exploring social, personal, economic and employment issues. Topics include diversity and inclusion, causes of conflict, human rights, social responsibility, job interview preparation and entrepreneurship. Students deepen their understanding of the connections between local, national and global issues.
With this qualification, students can progress to study subjects such as Business Studies, Health and Social Care, and Economics. This GCSE also provides a good foundation for careers in business, finance, marketing, human resources and research.
