GCSE Results 2021
17-August-21

In this unprecedented year with the boys transitioning through the adaptations for assessment to the cancellation of examinations and responding to alternative awarding arrangements, the boys and their teachers remained dedicated to their studies and goals. Their hard work, commitment and resilience have paid off as the results clearly demonstrate at an individual and whole school level. The educationalists are now debating how to further progress a qualifications system which is proportionate, less exam fixated, a new emphasis on skills and recording what young people can do rather than what they cannot. All of that lies ahead. For now we celebrate the achievements of the class of 2021 and the successes of the past two years. Nicolas Lo with 48 points achieved 10 A+ and 2 Level 9 grades – a fantastic set of results; Jack Hollway with 44 points : 9 A+ and 2 level 9 grades is top of his class with Luca McDowell on 41 points having attained 8A+/ 2A and a Level 7. With 40 points Matthew Cheung has 10 A+ and we are equally proud of Matthew’s recent selection to represent Ireland at the upcoming European under 17 championships to be held in Slovenia. Aaron Rose with 10A+ grades has 40 points; James Hilman with 9A+ and 1 A has 39 points; by Darcy Hogg attained 38 points, Dan Kernohan 37 points; Robbie Agass, Will Kernohan and Michael Montgomery each 36 points. A further 22 boys had over 30 points with well-deserved top grades across the curriculum. With over 70% of all grades B or above, the boys are now preparing to make their A Level choices and can do so confident the groundwork has already been established . Congratulations and now we look forward to the next stage of the educational journey .
