A blistering finish has given the 1st XI yet another Ulster Bank Ulster Schools Cup, a record ninth success in the 29 years of the competition. They triumphed comfortably in the end with four wickets and three overs to spare over Foyle College in a game that was nip and tuck until the school’s final flourish.
They needed 74 to win in the last 11 overs and did it within eight thanks in the main to an undefeated 45 by Andrew Knape that included five fours and one six. He was ably abetted by Ben Cochrane whose 23 shared in the only half century stand of the match. A straight six from Robert Lyttle was a fitting way to finish the match!
Foyle College 164 for 7 (B. McGavock 4 for 39).
RBAI 168 for for 6 (A. Knape 45, B. Cochrane 23)
