On Friday 18th May the final presentation of the ABP Youth Challenge Aberdeen Angus competition was made at the Balmoral Show. The RBAI team of Ethan Donnelly, Daniel Boomer and Ross Campbell unfortunately were not selected as one of the 4 final winners but their progression through the various stages of the competition and their placing in the final 11 schools from a large number of entries deserves great commendation.
The boys were supported at Balmoral by the Principal and Mr Wilson and the event was a fitting way to recognise the hard work of the boys throughout the competition. It was also a way of marking the contribution of RBAI to the Balmoral Show itself; governor Mr Yarr, who was CEO of the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society (RUAS) 1978-2003 was joined by the current RUAS CEO Mr Alan Crowe, another Instonian in supporting the boys.
The visit to the show was also an opportunity to recognise the success of a current pupil in year 10, Andrew Hamill who has been showing cattle for a number of years and whose ability and skill in handling and showing cattle is being recognised by the winning of awards such as the Aberdeen Angus Youth development programme.
