Mark Gleghorne wins bronze at the Commonwealth Games

Congratulations to Mark Gleghorne, a past-pupil of RBAI, who recently won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Queensland, Australia in early April 2018.

Mark is a key member of the English hockey squad that took part in the competition. In the group stages of the competition Mark scored two of his team's goals in a 7-0 win over Malyasia, and one goal in a 2-2 draw with Pakistan. Other group matches saw the team record a 3-2 victory over Wales and a 4-3 defeat at the hands of India.

Having finished second in their group, the English team then took on hosts Australia in the semi-final. A very close match, watched by a large and vociferous crowd, resulted in a 2-1 win for Australia. This result left Mark's England team playing India in the bronze medal match : a contest that England won by 2 goals to 1.
