The Senior Golf team of Josh Robinson, David Keery, Ben Connolly, Marco Deane and Luke Kelly competed in the Ulster section of the Irish Matchplay Championship. Unfortunately, the cold weather meant that the morning semi-finals were delayed for an hour. But soon the sun came out and shone on the Inst team as they beat Sullivan in an extremely close contest 3-2.
We progressed to play Wallace with the team saving their best golf for the final. Josh Robinson finished his match 5 under par which was exceptional but due to the high standard this match it ended in a draw. David Keery played well but wasn’t able to win against an Ulster representative.
The tie then came down to the last 3 players on the course. There was no cause for concern as Ben, Marco and Luke all dominated their opponents winning their matches convincingly with none of them having to play more than 15 holes. The team will now travel to Cork as the Ulster representatives in the All-Ireland final.
In addition to this Aaron Marshall was selected to represent Ireland in their match against France in Nice. Aaron won two of his three matches helping Ireland win 10-9.
