Three teams competed in the Ulster Schools’ Cup and League Finals on Friday 3 March. Firstly, well done to the Year 8 team of Dan Smith, Ben Gray, James Dick, and Darcy Hogg who played against Wallace HS in the final of the Cup, in a very tightly contested match, which they drew 3-3 in games and 9-9 in sets, winning by 252-233 on count-back to points to claim the Ulster Schools Cup.
Congratulations to the Minor team of Ben Callaghan, Ethan Hance, Ronan McFadden and Peter McFadden who competed in the final of the U14 Division 2 competition, winning a decisive 5-1 victory over Ballyclare HS which qualified them for the Irish Championships.
Congratulations also to the Junior team of Jack Livingstone, Matthew Robb, Matthew Cheung and Josh Armstrong who defeated Wallace HS 4-2 in the Ulster Schools Cup U16 Final and 4-2 in the Division 1 League Final to also qualify them for the Irish Finals.
The Minor and Junior teams both represented Ulster at the Irish Championship in Dublin on Wednesday 8 March. The Minor team finished the U14 All Ireland competition in third place, bringing their season to a very pleasing conclusion. The Junior team competed in the U16 Division 1 tournament, playing teams from Leinster and Munster. They won both matches convincingly by 5-1 to claim the Irish U16 Championship, which is a fantastic achievement.
Many congratulations to all three teams on their remarkable season and to the U16s on their outstanding success in winning all three titles at the Ulster and Irish Championships in the same year!
